WXR This Week - MCC San Diego

I'm visiting the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego this week.

The Admin. Div. Facilities Joint Policy Committee is here to continue negotiations of the Facilities Manual.

At the end of the week, I'll be conducting Steward Training with Local 3619.

Return of the Blog! - Where Is Mike Now? Visit to CPOF Office, FCI Mendota Hearing, Meeting with the BOP Regional Director at WXRO, and FCI Dublin Visit

I know it's been way too long since I've posted my movements on my blog. I'm going to try to be better about updating it so folks know where I am and what I'm doing.

This week, I'll be in CA making my rounds.

I'm flying in to Sacramento, CA and will swing by the Correctional Peace Officer's Foundation office to pay a visit and catch up with the staff there.

I'll then be headed to FCI Mendota to help Local 1237 with an impasse hearing over trying to bargain adequate Union office space.

I'll be swinging by the BOP Western Regional Office to meet with the Regional Director, and stopping by FCI Dublin to visit with Local 3584 while I'm in the neighborhood.

Where Is Mike Now? Joint Labor Management Training at FCC Victorville

I'm participating in a Joint Labor  Management Relations training this week at FCC Victorville.

The training is being led by CPL President Eric Young.  Eric has conducted this training several times this year at other facilities across the country, and I've heard great things about it.

The entire Local 3969 Executive Board; the FCC Victorville Executive Staff and department heads; Western Regional Director,Juan Castillo; and your's truly will all be participants in the session.

I'm traveling to the Western Regional Office this week in Stockton, CA.  While I'm in the area, I'll also be visiting Local 3584 at FCI Dublin and Local 1242 at USP Atwater.

Where is Mike Now? National Academy of Arbitrators 37th Annual Labor-Management Conference in Dallas, TX

This week, I'm attending the National Academy of Arbitrators (NAA) 37th Annual Labor-Management Conference in Dallas, TX.

This is my first time attending, though I've spoken with people who have attended this conference over the years.  I've heard that it is an excellent training session.

Where is Mike Now? - Traumas of Law Enforcement Training

This week, I'm attending a session of the annual Traumas of Law Enforcement Training that is funded through grants from the Department of Justice.  One of the training sessions is scheduled for Dublin, CA.

The training dedicates 1-day to preparing and handling line-of-duty death, 1-day to the cumulative stress on an officer, ½ day to police suicide, and ½ day to the “traumatized officer”.

Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S) has presented this training to over 10,000 individuals from law enforcement community.
